An Oostburg High School senior is among a group of 15 elite winners of a โMoney Smart Wisconsinโ scholarship contest from the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions. The fifteen, $1,000 awards winners were determined through an essay submission on how they plan to finance their college education and career training. One of those winners is Oostburg High School senior, Mikayla Rogers. Her essay was one of 304 submissions that were judged according to how well students had estimated the costs of their higher education, identified funding sources, explained the workings of the financial aid process, and formulated plans for managing and balancing finances, schoolwork and jobs, with maintaining their academic and career goals.
Carole Trone, the Executive Director of contest co-sponsor, the Wisconsin Coalition on Student Debt, said each essayist reflected a commitment to their future and offered innovative strategies for navigating the complexities of higher education financing.
Mikayla Rogers will receive a $1,000 contribution to a new or existing Edvest 529 account, Wisconsinโs college savings program.
