Four Town of Sheboygan properties will be looking greener in years to come thanks to reforestation efforts that get underway in under two weeks.
The project that begins in earnest on Saturday the 26th, the day after Arbor Day, is a collaboration of the Town of Sheboygan Lions Club along with Restoration Of Our Trees Sheboygan, or ROOTS, an initiative of the Sheboygan Rotary Club. A diverse mixture of 67 trees will be planted by the organizations with help from area high school students and other volunteers at four properties: the Town Hall on Technology Parkway, the Townโs Highway Department Maintenance Building on Enterprise Drive, and at both Rudy Mahler and Firehouse Parks.
Earlier efforts had already planted more than 65 trees at Mahler Park on northeast Eisner Avenue three years ago, while Firehouse Park received attention in 2021. The newest efforts begin at 9 a.m. on the 26th at the Town of Sheboygan Hall campus with a demonstration by arborist and project consultant Tim Bull. The public is invited to attend.
