Heavy-duty vehicles carrying armed men in tactical gear will swarm school property in Cedar Grove today in hopes of disarming a dangerous situation. The danger is something the men hope never materializes. But practicing what it takes to maintain the public safety is critical for those times that the Sheboygan County SWAT Team needs to face real danger head-on.
A practice session is scheduled to take place between about 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. today, focused on an old church now owned by the Cedar Grove Belgium School District. Normally the sight of a SWAT team brandishing weapons just a stone’s throw away from a school would draw alarms, but that’s why the Team announced their practice in advance, and they’re thanking the public ahead of time for their understanding and support for the exercise that helps assure that, if needed, the Sheboygan County SWAT Team is well-prepared to do their job.
