The title of “Tree City USA” has again been conferred on Sheboygan by the Arbor Day Foundation. It’s the 47th year that Sheboygan has been so recognized, and now, for the 5th year, the City has been declared a “Tree City of the World”. New tree planting is one of many ways the City has maintained the status of the longest-running in all of Wisconsin for both of these designations.
To celebrate – and to keep the record going, Mayor Ryan Sorenson will join City Forester Tim Bull and a group of 5th grade students at the Jaycee Quarry Park to plant trees around the disc golf course on Arbor Day. The Mayor will discuss how Sheboygan benefits from its longstanding dedication to maintaining an urban forest, while Bull will demonstrate proper tree planting techniques.
The public is encouraged to participate in this free event on Friday the 25th from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.
