Construction on a rural intersection near Port Washington will require a 3-mile detour through the City for those needing to navigate the northern Ozaukee County area. The intersection involves Ozaukee County Highways “KK” and “LL” just northwest of Port Washington, which is closed as of today. The Sheriff there said that deputies will be monitoring the work areas to ensure motorists don’t ignore barricades and signage, which is meant for the protection of the workers and equipment, and emphasized that enforcement will take place 24-7, and not just during work hours.
Traffic will be detoured using Highways 32 and 33 through the City of Port Washington until the week of May 12 for those using “LL”, while travelers using “KK” may need to wait until as late as June 13 before construction is complete and the detour is removed.
