What began as a traffic stop for a moving violation resulted in the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs and the issuance of charges against the driver.
The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Deputy making the stop was monitoring Highway 33 near I-43 when a moving violation was observed. The driver told the deputy that he and his two passengers were on their way back from Milwaukee following a brief visit. The conversation led the Deputy to a reasonable suspicion of illegal drug activity and a search of the vehicle was initiated. Deputies located five individual bags of a white powder within the vehicle, while the driver had additional bags concealed in his pants.
The contents, totaling 168.2 grams, or about 6 (5.933) ounces turned out to be methamphetamine laced with fentanyl. The driver was arrested on charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver Meth and Fentanyl in quantities over 50 grams each, and on a probation hold. He’s currently in the Ozaukee County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
