The City of Sheboygan is inviting the public to join in the celebration of Arbor Day on Friday.
Since 1978, Sheboygan has been recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation as a “Tree City USA”, and is also celebrating the fifth year being recognized as a “Tree City of the World”. Both designations are the longest in all of Wisconsin, and are due in no small part to efforts like the tree planting events that Sheboygan undertakes.
The public can take a hands-on role in continuing those designations on Friday. Mayor Ryan Sorenson will explain the City’s dedication to maintaining its diverse urban forest, while City Forester, Tim Bull, will demonstrate and discuss proper tree planting techniques.
The City’s official observance takes place from 10 a.m. until 12 noon tomorrow with tree planting at Jaycee Quarry Park.
