Small businesses in the City of Kiel are getting assistance via a grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. The WEDC’s Small Business Development Grant is part of an initiative led by Governor Evers and the WEDC to uplift small business development across the state.
Out of an overall $3.2 million award spread among 19 organizations across Wisconsin, Kiel will receive $60,000 to consolidate with its facade revolving loan fund, helping small businesses in the Riverwalk District grow by providing low-interest loans for building improvements and financial support to enhance their success. Kiel, which straddles both Manitowoc and Calumet Counties, will also receive 1-on-1 business counseling from Progress Lakeshore, the local economic development agency based out of Manitowoc, to ensure they are utilizing and connected to all the available resources that can enhance their likelihood of success.
Kiel City Administrator, Dave Funkhouser, called the Small Business Development Grant “…a significant opportunity to continue supporting Kiel’s local entrepreneurs and small businesses…”, businesses that he said are vital to drive innovation, create jobs, and foster economic growth in the city.
Details about the application process and eligibility requirements for Kiel’s revolving loan fund are scheduled to be announced soon.
