A career as a K9 Officer is short, usually less than 10 years. And after a full career with the Sheboygan Police Department, K9 Max is ready for an easier life.
The SPD announced Max’s retirement on Tuesday, calling him a dedicated and hard-working partner. But given his age of 63 in “people years”, the 9-year-old will be retiring to the home of his handler and partner for the past seven years, Officer Anna Taylor.

During his service, Max was responsible for over 2,700 deployments resulting in locating 83 people, and credited with the seizure of more that 32,000 grams – that’s over 70-1/2 pounds – of narcotics. Max was also invaluable in searches for missing or vulnerable persons, or locating evidence that otherwise might’ve been missed. That’s a Good Boy!
