(WTAQ-WLUK) — Flags will be flown at half staff across Wisconsin Sunday to honor firefighters who died in the line of duty.
“Our firefighters have selflessly dedicated their lives to service and to ensure Wisconsinites across the state are safe and secure, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year,” said Gov. Evers. “On behalf of the state, we recognize and thank all members of our firefighting communities for their brave service and sacrifice and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in pursuit of safety and serving their fellow neighbor.”
Executive Order #258 orders the flags to be flown at half-staff on May 4, in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service during National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.
Gov. Evers proclaimed May 3-4, 2025, as National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.
On Sept. 27, the Wisconsin Fire & EMS Memorial in Wisconsin Rapids will hold the Final Alarm Ceremony honoring the memory of members of Wisconsin’s fire services who have given their lives in the line of duty. Executive Order #258 also orders the flags to be flown at half-staff on Sept. 27 in honor of that occasion.
