UPDATE – Power Was Restored By 5:15 AM – All Other Circumstances Remain
Numerous residents in the Village of Fredonia were ordered into their basements for safety while power was cut to the neighborhood early this morning. The moves were in response to a tactical situation as SWAT teams maintained a standoff with what was described as a “heavily armed” subject.
Reports of the situation began circulating on social media around midnight, and as of 4 a.m., all residents on Fox Glen Road were ordered to shelter in place in their basements while those, along with people living on Pheasant Lane and Partridge Lane had their power cut and the streets were blocked.
The Ozaukee County Sheriff said that they were working to de-escalate the situation, but as of 4:30 this morning the subject, who was considered “extremely dangerous” remained in his residence.
As of 5:15, power had been restored to the neighborhood, but all other circumstances remained the same, and the subject remained uncooperative.
The Sheriff advised that St. John’s church and daycare will remain closed and residents were being called with the option of either staying inside the homes, or to have an officer escort persons and their families out of the area via Martin Avenue going north.
