The homeless community in Sheboygan is getting a bit of help even as their former shelter remains homeless itself.
Sheboygan Area Pay It Forward, a local 501(c)3 non-profit shelter was forced out of its location on April 15th when the building it occupied was condemned by the City, and has been looking for a new location in downtown Sheboygan ever since. The other shelter, operating only during the winter at St. Luke United Methodist Church at 6th and Ontario Avenue, is closed for the season.
A bit of good news was received over the weekend as it was learned that Street Angels from Milwaukee will be bringing their mobile shower trailer to the St. Luke site this coming Friday, the 23rd. Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., those in need will be able to get a good shower, haircuts, and a warm meal as well. Along with Street Angels, support is coming from Kohler Company, JoMaJi Salon and Spa, and Community Cafe operated by the Sheboygan County Food Bank.
Meanwhile, anyone aware of a suitable location to house Sheboygan Area Pay It Forward is asked to call 920-889-1549.
