Two new ambulances have been added to the fleet available to respond when needed by the Sheboygan Fire Department. The state-of-the-art vehicles are stationed at Fire Station 2 on South 18th Street, and Fire Station 3 on North 25th.
Assistant Chief Michael Lubbert said that the units significantly enhance safety for both patients and emergency providers.
The first ambulance, MED 1853, was placed into service on May 10th at Fire Station 3, and is a unit custom-built and designed by American Response Vehicles specifically for the Sheboygan Fire Department. It is the department’s first door-forward ambulance that maximizes space for patient care, improving provider efficiency during emergencies while they care for patients.
MED 1852 was placed into service today, May 20th, at Fire Station 2. The Demers ambulance, ordered through Pomasl Fire Equipment, Inc., mirrors the new MED 1851 which responds out of Fire Station 1.
The Department extended its gratitude to the Common Council and the Sheboygan community for “their unwavering support of public safety, which made these critical upgrades possible.”
