“More seasoned” people will remember the 1955 song by Tennessee Ernie Ford, “Sixteen Tons”. That song spoke of hard work mining underground for little reward. But the sixteen tons collected recently by US Postal Service letter carriers was all reward for the efforts of them, along with those who put out food that went to the Sheboygan County Food Bank.
32,000 pounds in all was taken in during the Food Bank’s “Stamp Out Hunger” spring food collection, an effort that gained praise from the organization which said that the “…effort truly shows the power of coming together to help support families across Sheboygan County.”
