A seemingly endless rain that’s already dumped over an inch across much of southeastern Wisconsin will end – eventually, but forecasters say that it will take a while.
The occasionally-moderate showers had already put down .98” at the Sheboygan County Airport by midnight this morning, while 2.2” was recorded at Cedar Grove in the County’s southeast corner. The National Weather Service said that we could expect another quarter, to three-quarters of an inch in steady, but light activity before it ends by Thursday evening, and the east-central areas continue to be the hot spot for the wet stuff in Wisconsin.
A monitor on the Sheboygan River at Esslingen Park early this morning showed a continued rising trend to the level, but even with more rain, it’s not expected to be enough to cause flooding.
With the impending Memorial Day holiday weekend at hand, it appears that outdoor plans will be mostly dry, with only a small chance of spotty showers reappearing Sunday through Monday. Temperatures will remain some 10-15 degrees below the normal highs in the upper 60s today, with a gradual but slight warming trend to follow.
