A program designed to prosecute those engaged in sex-related crimes against children has landed a Fond du Lac man in jail pending trial on charges filed by the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
26-year-old Ricardo Ortiz allegedly trafficked a minor on two separate occasions this past March, and another count charges him with using a computer trying for a third time to traffic a child on or about April 8th this year.
If convicted of any of the three charges, Ortiz would face a mandatory 10 year-to-life sentence in federal prison and could be fined up to a quarter million dollars per charge. His case was brought as part of the nationwide Project Safe Childhood and investigated by the Oshkosh Police Department.
