For the second time in just over a week, a man from Francis Creek has been indicted on federal charges related to sex crimes against children.
On Wednesday a two-count indictment was returned by the US Attorney’s Office against 37-year-old Ryan Schroeder, alleging that he, in the words of the indictment, “knowingly employed, used, persuaded, induced, enticed, and coerced” a minor girl to engage in sexually explicit conduct in the production of child pornography.
If convicted on either count, Schroeder would face a mandatory 15, and up to 30 years in prison, fined up to a quarter million dollars per count, and would be required to register as a sexual offender under state and federal law.
The case was brought as part of the federal Project Safe Childhood program and investigated by the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office and the Mishicot Police Department, assisted by the Manitowoc County District Attorney’s Office.
Just last week another Francis Creek man, 75-year-old Michael Kornely, was accused of trafficking two separate minor victims across state lines with the intent of criminal sexual activity. His case was also discovered through Project Safe Childhood, but it was not mentioned whether or not the two cases were otherwise related.
