A construction project will close South 7th Street between Mead and Union Avenues in Sheboygan beginning on Monday (June 2). The Department of Public Works announced on Wednesday that the closure is necessary in order to complete a project that involves milling of the current concrete surface, repairing storm sewers, reconstructing sidewalk ramps and resurfacing with an asphalt overlay.
That length of 7th Street including the base intersections will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project – a figure that was not related by the DPW release. As part of the City of Sheboygan’s 2025 Asphalt Overlay Road Improvement Projects, the City indicates that it “will provide updates on expected impacts, timelines, and detour routes to minimize inconvenience.”
Local traffic will continue to have access during the majority of the project. Full street closures will be needed for the pavement milling and resurfacing operations, and those dates will be posted at a later time.
The City expressed appreciation for the patience of the public, and reminded them to please slow down in work zones and that, as always, all work and traffic impacts are weather-dependent and subject to change.
