Sheboygan Fire Dept
A smoky fire on Sheboygan’s east side drew a full response overnight. According to social media reports, the fire in the 300 block of Huron Avenue was reported around 10 p.m. with crews arriving to find heavy smoke at the bottom of a first-floor stairwell. With reports that all occupants were out of the building, crews began searching for the source of the fire even as smoke was pouring from the 2nd and 3rd stories, making that difficult to locate.
Eventually it was reported that a chair and a dresser were found to be on fire and that was quickly extinguished. Crews had to begin pulling down a ceiling to ensure there were no hidden burn areas, and the fire was completely under control before 11 p.m.
We expect more details from the Sheboygan Fire Department later today.
