The names of those involved in a Tuesday afternoon, 3-vehicle crash that left one dead have been released by Fond du Lac County Authorities.
79-year-old Thomas G. Hechimovich of Fond du Lac was identified as the driver of an eastbound SUV on County Highway B which attempted to turn left onto County Highway K northbound. However, Hechimovich failed to yield to an oncoming dump truck driven by 67-year-old Larry M. Potratz of Fond du Lac. After first striking Hechimovich, Potratz then struck a cement truck being operated by 61-year-old Kirk B. Thew of Van Dyne.
Hechimovich died of his injuries at the scene, and Potratz was evaluated by EMS for minor injuries. Thew, the cement truck driver, was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team.
