Legal counsel will be attending a closed session of Sheboygan’s Committee of the Whole tonight to advise that body what, if anything, might be undertaken in response to the actions of its former City Attorney.
Charles Adams stepped down from his position in March, two days after the Committee of the Whole from the past Council session received a 127-page report from the Fond du Lac Police Department, which was asked to examine allegations of misconduct by Adams against City employees. That investigation revealed a pattern of unauthorized access to emails and data by Adams, as well as his hiring of outside legal representation without notifying the Common Council as required by city policy. No action was taken at that time.
Tonight’s closed Committee of the Whole meeting will further review Adams’ actions, as well as any litigation that may be undertaken to address them. No formal action is expected to be taken during the session, which is planned for 6:15 p.m., immediately following the regularly scheduled Common Council meeting at 6.
