If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to have wind-filled sails draw you across the calm waters of Sheboygan’s harbor, or wanted to know more about what the Coast Guard does here, then this Saturday is your day to find out.
From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. the Sheboygan Yacht Club will be the headquarters for the 2025 Lakefront Open House. From there you can get a sailboat ride out to the lighthouse and back courtesy of the Sheboygan Youth Sailing Center while learning about their mission to train young sailors, windsurfers and paddleboarders, or step inside the Sheboygan Yacht Club to get an inside look at the clubhouse.
The US Coast Guard Station Sheboygan will make their response boats available to tour, and if weather and emergency calls permit, a landing of the Coast Guard’s Helicopter is planned.
Those with watercraft can get a free vessel safety check from the Coast Guard Auxiliary at the Harbor Center Marina or Boat Launch, as well as at the Coast Guard Station, helping to ensure that boats are sea-worthy with all the proper safety equipment in place.
Of course, no summer event here is complete without a brat fry, and the Lakefront Open House is no exception so bring your appetites and curiosities to Sheboygan’s lakefront on Saturday between 10 and 2 to have them both satisfied.
