A Cedarburg man had to be taken down by non-lethal force after a drunken Sunday afternoon incident in that City. Cedarburg Police responded to Wilshire Drive a bit before 12:30 Sunday afternoon when a 50-year-old man was reportedly intoxicated, threatening family members, and loading up ammunition into magazines. By the time officers arrived, though, the man had driven from the scene, possibly armed with a loaded handgun.
His vehicle was located about 15 minutes later at The Hamilton at Cedar Creek in the Town of Cedarburg. The pub and restaurant establishment was evacuated and surrounded by police who tried to convince the now-lone occupant to come out of the building, efforts that lasted until shortly after 3 when he left through the rear door, continuing his hostile behavior. Now surrounded by members of five nearby police departments along with emergency management and drone teams, the man was disabled using PepperBall rounds and a taser, medically evaluated on the scene and then taken into custody without serious injury.
The areas of Hamilton and Green Bay Roads near the scene were closed for about 3-1/2 hours, and the suspect is now in jail awaiting arraignment on multiple charges.
