A number of projects will require ramp and lane closures on area highways this week. Some of the projects involve maintenance of long-line and special pavement markings on I-43, US Highways, State Highways and some local roads that pass over them. Also, bridge decks on those roadways are being given a sealer to protect them against wear, especially in winter. For the most part, moving lane closures and flag crews will keep traffic moving through those areas. Other projects will cause more inconvenience.
Work on I-43 ramps will require closures today and tomorrow around Sheboygan. Today (Monday) the I-43 southbound ramp to Highway 23 east will be closed along with the northbound ramp to 23 west. Those closures will reopen between 2 and 6 p.m. to accommodate expected heavier traffic volumes. The same schedule will be followed tomorrow for the I-43 southbound ramp to 23 east, and the northbound ramp to 23 west.
As the work can’t be done in wet weather, the projects could be delayed to a Wednesday-Thursday or a Thursday-Friday schedule. Drivers should be aware, slow down and move over for safety.
