More details concerning a double shooting on Wednesday in Sheboygan Falls have been released by the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office who assisted local officials after the suspects fled.
Ozaukee County Sheriff Christy Knowles said that they were informed of the incident at 4:23 p.m. on Wednesday. The suspect responsible for the gunfire was believed to be traveling southbound in a stolen Grand Cherokee, possibly heading to Milwaukee.
Deputies were positioned along I-43 monitoring for the vehicle, and at 4:49 p.m. the vehicle was spotted near Saukville and a traffic stop was attempted by Saukeville Police and Ozaukee County Sheriff’s deputies. The suspect instead accelerated and a pursuit, headed by the Sheriff’s Office, was begun. That chase continued into Milwaukee County where the Wisconsin State Patrol had deployed tire deflation devices near Good Hope Road. That move succeeded in deflating the front passenger-side tire, enough that the vehicle lost control, struck the rear of a pickup truck and came to rest on the roadway south of Silver Spring Road.
The suspect didn’t wait for the vehicle to stop and attempted to flee on foot. A brief foot chase ensued and the person was apprehended & taken into custody without further incident.
The 24-year-old Milwaukee man was turned over to the Sheboygan Falls Police Department and is currently in the Sheboygan County Detention Center on charges of First Degree REcklessly Endangering Safety, Endangering Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, while additional charges are expected for offenses committed there during the chase.
