A 27-year-old man from the Town of Trenton in Washington County was arrested at Slinger High School on Thursday morning in connection with an ongoing Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The man was working as a contract janitor at the school and was being investigated after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cyber tip of unlawful images being uploaded in the Village of Grafton.
Washington County Detectives conducted a formal investigation and planned to serve a search warrant at the man’s residence early Thursday morning, however they learned he’d already departed and his vehicle was located by a deputy at Slinger High School a short time later. School officials were contacted immediately and investigators were able to monitor the suspect on school surveillance cameras from the County Communications Center, enabling detectives to take him into custody at the school without incident. It was learned that he had worked after school hours for eight weeks, but Thursday was his first day scheduled for the day shift.
He was turned over to the Grafton Police Department and charges of possession of child sexual abuse materials were referred to the District Attorney of Ozaukee County where the crimes were detected. Washington County detectives are still investigating electronic devices and more charges could be issued in that jurisdiction where the man lived.
At this time there is no evidence to suggest that any local victims or students were targeted.
