Changes to the regulations that govern such things as bag limits and other sports in Sheboygan County are among those to be considered by the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board in about two weeks. The board, which sets the rules for the Department of Natural Resources will hold its June meeting on Wednesday, June 25 at 8:30 a.m. at the UW-Parkside, and the public is being asked for their input in advance.
Although in-person public appearances are welcome, remote testimony from the public via Zoom will also be accepted, and the meeting will be streamed on the DNR’s YouTube channel.
Proposed changes affecting Sheboygan County include:
. Allowing motor trolling with up to 3 hooks, baits or lures per angler on inland waters.
. Apply a 2-trout bag with a 12-inch minimum length limit and no bait restrictions to the Onion River downstream from County Highway E to County Highway N.
. Apply the regulation of 5 trout in total daily bag of brown and rainbow trout, no minimum length limit – but mandatory catch and release for brook trout caught on Nichol’s Creek.
. Move the early season start for trout and salmon from the first Saturday in May to the first Saturday in April on those streams, while proposing to move the open season for all other species on other waters in Sheboygan County except Lake Michigan and its tributaries to the first Saturday in March.
