If Joey Chestnut doesn’t pull a Rock during his intro this year it is a MAJOR misplay:
FINALLY, Joey Chestnut, HAS COME BACK to gobble glizzies on the 4th of Julllllyyyyyyy!
I think we blogged about this last year when Nathan’s made the cataclysmic mistake of banning the world’s greatest competitive eater from the world’s largest hot dog eating contest. Complete buffoonery in every sense of the word. My contention at the time was that you may as well not even have the 4th of July hot dog eating contest if you don’t have Joey Chestnut as a competitor. Do you remember who won the contest last year? Neither do I. Because it doesn’t matter. It’s illegitimate. Like when the Rockets won a few NBA titles because Michael Jordan decided to play baseball for a few summers.
But now? Order has been restored. The record for hot dogs at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest is 76, set by Joe Chestnut in 2021. I wouldn’t be shocked one bit if he breaks that in his return. He might touch 80 just to make a statement. Chestnut is back, we’re back, America is back!
PS: One of my favorite Office scenes of all time:
Double PS: Could you imagine the 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest if Costco took over sponsorship?? Having to put those all beefs with extra length and girth?? Sheesh.
