A worker died on Tuesday morning when a silo collapsed and trapped him beneath the debris. The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a silo collapse with injuries at 10:34 AM.
Along with assistance of the Newton Fire Department and First Responders, Valders Fire Department and EMS, and the St. Nazianz Fire Department, they went to the scene on Manitowoc County Highway “F” just east of Highway 42, less than a mile north of Osman, where a silo being dismantled on a farm fell in an unintended direction, striking a nearby building. A farm employee described only as a “young man” who was inside the building at the time, became trapped under the debris. The Manitowoc County Coroner was called to the scene where the victim was declared deceased.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending the notification of his family.
