Road crews for the Wisconsin DOT will have a shortened work week as labor on projects around the state will pause at noon on Thursday for the 4th of July holiday weekend. Crews will resume their schedules on Monday, with two major projects impacting Sheboygan County.
In Cascade, the bridge over the north branch of the Milwaukee River is mostly done with sidewalks being poured this week and a hard closure will be in place until that’s completed. Elsewhere on Highway 28 between Waldo and the south county line, grading crews will continue working on cross culverts, and flagging operations will control the flow of local traffic.
The Highway 32 reconstruction is progressing with ADA-compliant curb ramps in Cedar Grove completed last week. Today through Thursday morning the forms will be removed from the walls of the box culvert north of Gibbsville, and by the close of Thursday’s shift it’s expected that the top of that culvert should be poured.
Another three months will be needed before the entire Highway 28 project is completed, while Highway 32 work between Cedar Grove and Highway “V” will take several more months. Work on the second phase from “V” to Sheboygan Falls will follow.
