Last night’s Sheboygan Common Council meeting was eventful in several ways as approval was given to items that have drawn significant attention. With 5 speakers in support during the public comment section, and multiple queries from alders on specifics, the Evergreen Park Concept Plan and the proposal for improvements to the bike trail from Sheboygan County Cycling were both approved by unanimous votes. The plans would develop a multi-use trail as well as zones for building biking skills throughout the park.

Before that plan was approved, another Evergreen Park project provided a “Christmas in July” moment when Dave Hoffman of the Sheboygan Rotary Club presented the Sheboygan County Food Bank with a $50,000 check, money that was generated during last year’s “Making Spirits Bright” food and fund drive held each year at Evergreen Park.
Also approved last night was a change to the City Ordinance addressing how the City Attorney is selected. Rather than an elected position, that office will now be by appointment of the Common Council and the person selected will serve until the Council chooses to appoint a replacement.
