The group that organizes the many attractions that accompany Sheboygan festivals and events has had to cancel those portions of this year’s Coho Derby. The three-day fishing tournament which runs August 1-3 this year typically comes with live music, tents and events for all ages. However, the Sheboygan Event Company which handles those peripherals said that a lack of donations made it impossible to offset what it called “the substantial logistical costs associated with hosting an event of this size.”
The announcement said that to maintain the quality and integrity of the COHO Derby, “we must ensure that the event is financially sustainable – unfortunately, that is not feasible this year.”
The 2025 Fishing Tournament will still occur as scheduled the first Friday through Sunday in August, and the headquarters have been moved from Deland Park to The Wharf on Riverfront Drive. The event is still open to the public, and a cold beverage and brat or burger will still be offered to those who visit. Those interested in entering the tournament can visit the COHO Derby website.
