An abundance of highway maintenance projects are in progress across Sheboygan County this week.
Among the less-structured tasks are the maintenance of long-line and special pavement markings on US, State, and some local highways that will be done as schedules allow. You could expect to encounter flagging, or lane shifts for these operations.
Also underway are bridge deck sealing operations throughout Brown, Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan Counties that will not require closures, but rather will also employ flagging and lane closures while in progress.
Maintenance crews will be repairing cable guards on southbound I-43 at County Line Road on Thursday between 6 AM and 4 PM, with lane closures employed.
More cable guard repairs will be conducted on eastbound Highway 23 at County Road “TT” daily Tuesday through Thursday between 6 AM and 4 PM. Again, lane closures are planned.
From now through Friday, crews will repair concrete on eastbound Highway 23 between County Highway “P” and Inez Court, with lane closures controlling traffic flow.
Two major projects continue in Sheboygan County; Highway 28 between the south County Line and Waldo, and Highway 32 between Cedar Grove and Sheboygan Falls.
The Cascade bridge over the north branch of the Milwaukee River will have the approaches graded, storm sewers installed and bridge parapets poured this week.
On Highway 32, the contractor will finish backfill at the box culvert north of Gibbsville and place heavy riprap at each end of the new box culvert as the stream flow is restored through it. Another box culvert just south of Wilson-Lima road is scheduled to receive forms, steel reinforcing and pouring of wingwalls this week, while work on a third box culvert on the north end of Cedar Grove should begin.
