Increased attention is being paid to risky driving on Wisconsin roadways this week, not only by the Wisconsin State Patrol, but also with help from truckers.
From now through Friday, July 18th, State Troopers will be riding along with semi truck and bus drivers as part of the annual Trooper in a Truck enforcement and education initiative. The partnership with the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association takes advantage of the higher vantage point available from a cab or bus in order to spot dangerous driving behaviors, especially near commercial motor vehicles.
Wisconsin State Patrol Superintendent Tim Carnahan said that his organization was grateful for the partnership that aims to attain zero preventable deaths on Wisconsin roads. He stated that “Safe roads rely on everyone to do their part and drive responsibly.”
During the operation, troopers who observe risky driving behaviors from a truck or bus will radio to patrol cars in the area for followup enforcement action. Drivers can expect to see Troopers in a Truck in the following areas:
Hudson on July 14
Waukesha on July 15
Madison on July 16
Green Bay on July 17
Wausau on July 18.
