Search crews in Sheboygan are set to resume operations this morning at Jaycee Quarry Park after a reported drowning triggered a massive rescue effort.
Firefighters were called to the quarry around 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rescue swimmers were in the water within minutes, but after an extensive surface and dive search, the operation shifted to recovery. Divers from the MABAS Division 113 team joined the Sheboygan Fire Department in the water, while the Wisconsin DNR and Milwaukee Fire brought in sonar technology to help scan the quarry.
Crews eventually called off the search Tuesday evening because of low visibility and safety concerns. Recovery efforts are expected to continue this morning. Because of the ongoing operation, the Jaycee Quarry Park and Disc Golf will be closed today.
